(NASHVILLE, Tenn.) — House Majority Whip Johnny Garrett, R-Goodlettsville, named State Rep. Eddie Mannis, R-Knoxville, to fill one of seven Deputy Whip positions within the Tennessee House Republican Caucus for the 112th Tennessee General Assembly.
“Passing fiscally conservative legislation is of the utmost importance to the Republican Caucus. Representative Mannis serving in this vital role will support our supermajority’s success,” said Garrett
As Deputy Whip, Mannis will assist in counting votes as well as communicating with members about the Republican supermajority’s position on issues or important legislative initiatives. He will support Garrett who is the fourth-ranking officer of the House Republican Caucus.
“I look forward to working with the caucus as well as the other deputies to gain experience from this important leadership position,” said Mannis.
Mannis joins newly named Deputy Whips Rebecca Alexander, R-Jonesborough; Tandy Darby, R-Greenfield; John Gillespie, R-Memphis; Tim Hicks, R-Gray; Lowell Russell, R-Vonore; Todd Warner, R-Chapel Hill.
Mannis lives in Knoxville and serves the 18thHouse District in the Tennessee House of Representatives which includes part of Knox County. Mannis serves on the Commerce, Education Instruction, and Local Government Committees. He also serves on the Business & Utilities, Education Instruction, and Election & Campaign Finance Subcommittees.
